Thing 7

Well, as my little workshop has come to an end I have enjoyed this introduction to so many things on Web 2.0. A few of my favorite things that I discovered were how easy it is blog, how quick you can add a video to your blog and how easy a wiki space (I think) will be for my kiddos.

As for me continuing this learning journey....

I would love to learn more about the kid blog. I figured there was something out there like this, but I just hadn't looked far enough apparently. I would love to do this, but I'm sure with today's world there are probably stipulations and forms parents will have to fill out prior to using it. I would love to find out more about it though because I feel like it could be a great tool for those kiddos needing more of a challenge.

Ahhhhh!!! I just learned more about Xtranormal and OH  MY GOODNESS!!!! This is ah-mazing! I just go soooo excited really! When I clicked on create it gives you examples and wow... so many ways I could use this. With it being election year I will have our own election in our classroom to run for president. I could even allow the presidents to come up with a short clip to be able to show other teachers, administrators and classes to help us vote! Ai yi yi! I am such the giddy teacher right now. Ridiculous!...............Well the cheap o teacher in me just got shot down as I was going to make a quick one to see what it was like... as soon as I saw the $ I was turned away. Maybe it won't be too expensive, but with as much money as I've spent on 306 so far... I'm going to have to step away for now.

Lastly, 2 other sites I believe I will look into further/use this year are wordle and flashcard exchange.

I am so happy that I took this course as I was educated on some things on the web that will benefit me and my classroom this year. I am rather excited!

Thing 6

Oh  my.... if this posting of a youtube video is as simple as I have read I am going to use the heck outta this. The video series that come to my mind that I would like to be able to share with parents is a set of whole brain teaching videos... particularly by Freundlichteaching. She has implemented whole brain teaching in her classroom and I think very efficiently. I began using this teaching style towards the end of the year and wished I had known about it a lot sooner because not only do the kiddos get so much out of it, but I had such a -*-BLAST-*- with it! I would like to share it with the parents of my students because it isn't as easy to explain as it is to watch.

Wahoo!!!! Here it is! Enjoy!

Thing 5

On Flickr I am realizing how many ways I can actually benefit from this site. I searched classroom and there are so many pictures that have ideas for classroom setup, organization, decoration, etc.

I also know I could use some of the pictures for lessons. The following picture....

could be used for inferencing. There are so many kid friendly pictures that I could use that are REAL LIFE that the kids can actually c.o.n.n.e.c.t. with. Ohhhh happy happy joy, joy!

Thing 4

Yipee for FINALLY sync-ing my google calendar. I forget about stuff and never end up doing it. This Thing 4 just reminded me and I am ready to go on NEVER forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, appointments, etc. thanks to google reminding me via e-mail and pop ups the day of. =) Wahoo.... because we all know how FORGETFUL I am.

Also, I think it's crazy how quickly some pieces of technology come and go. I just read about the iGoogle feature coming to an end soon. Oh well, I went ahead and created mine anyway to use until it does get flushed down the drain. My oh my how crazy it is that other new creations have already put this one on the back burner. W-O-W!

Another thing I had forgotten about was the google advanced search. I guess I go to other places to get my resources, but why not try and untilizemore. I will keep in mind this search tool when browsing for powerpoints this upcoming school year.

Lastly, I will continue to use Google Earth in my classroom as it has so many benefits and teaching opportunities for the classroom.

Thing 3

Man... I'm only on Thing 3 and learning so much about the web! I think there are several ways to use my wiki in the classroom. I think I will first use one as a literacy station. I set it up with my room number and name and it will be a story that will be written by all of students. They can write as much or as little as they want as long as the story continues to flow appropriately. I am very excited and anxious to try this out with my kiddos.

Thing 2

FoCuS! FoCuS! FoCuS!!! Holy moly this RSS feeder, Thing 2, was able to get me wayyyyy sidetracked. I'm back on though... no worries to being productive and trying to get this "workshop" completed today.

Well, on my new discovery of the RSS feeder I am now following something like 17 blogs.... yes that is correct 17!!! I think I am in major trouble now that they are all of such easy access. Before I just searched the ones I could remember and then would give up if none of the ones I had picked were updated recently. My oh my have I been missing out on this easy little tip to do so! I am so excited at how easy it is to follow my favorite blogs, but also know ahead of time that this convenience may get me into some procrastination T-R-O-U-B-L-E! =) Anyway, below are SOME of the blogs that I now have on my RSS feed.

*Step into Second Grade

*A Cupcake for the Teacher

*Clutter-Free Classroom

*The Inspired Apple

*The Teacher Wife

*Shenanigans in Second

Thing 1

Well bloggers.... here goes nothing. I am obviously new to this whole blog world adventure, but rather excited. I have been blog stalking following several educators to get teaching ideas for a while now. I am thrilled to start my own and hopefully be able to give back to other new bloggers what I have gained from the veterans. I will start my blog world experience by completing a  course called the 7 Things, so as I learn more about the blog world I will also be gaining hours for my teaching certificate.... can't beat that! =)

Thing 1

When I think of my profession of being an educator many different things flood my mind. Being an educator is THE most rewarding job ((in my opinion of course)). I get to spread knowledge to students who are learning, while they are actually teaching me a thing or two as well. Not only am I being educated by my students, but my co-workers, too. What a job of circular learning from everyone!

It is so interesting to reflect on my short 4 years of teaching so far. Just in these few years, so much has gone to technology. It is obvious that this is the new found way of teaching to being able to reach your kiddos that much more. No, not everything uses technology, but so much more than in the past. I love it! It makes me learn more and helps me continue to grow. I can't wait to see what all I will learn on my new blogging adventure!
